Our Vision

Our vision is to heal and transform lives as we set the standard in connecting the Gospel and clinical excellence.

Who are we?

We are a professional Christian counseling and training center. We connect the Gospel and counseling best practices for individuals, couples, families, and churches.

What do we do?

We journey with individuals and churches to help them move toward deeper healing and transformation.

We are committed to serving individuals from all walks of life by providing a wide and generous sliding scale for session fees based on household income. To provide thousands of clients with mental health care at this intentionally reduced cost, we rely on the support of friends and donors who share our belief in our mission.

Our Story

Redeemer Counseling is the largest Christian counseling center in New York City.

We are also a growing, nationwide mental health training center for pastors, ministry leaders, and professional counselors. We offer professional, compassionate, and Gospel-centered care. The counseling center began as an extension of pastoral care at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in 1990, and has grown ever since, serving New Yorkers from over 100 churches and ministries.

Our Core Values

Faith-Centered Integration
We believe in the transformative power of the gospel and combine evidence-based counseling techniques to address emotional, relational, and spiritual needs.

Individualized Compassion
Every person's journey is unique, and we are committed to providing personalized care. We listen deeply, respond thoughtfully, and tailor our services to meet each person where they are.

Community Impact
We view counseling as a part of God’s redemptive work, helping people experience healing that ripples through their families, communities, and beyond.

Professional Excellence
Our team of highly qualified professionals are committed to continuous learning and growth in order to maintain the highest standards of clinical practice while remaining grounded in faith.

Accessible Services
We believe quality counseling should not be limited by financial means. We strive to make our care available by offering a sliding scale to anyone seeking help.

The GIFT

Gospel-centered Integrative Framework for Therapy

Our Unique Gospel-Centered Approach

In our one-of-a-kind GIFT approach, we prioritize what the Scripture says and seek to integrate psychological insights to better understand people. As counselors, we strive to meet each person where they are, with both grace and clinical excellence. The majority of our counselors are licensed, and though they are not psychiatrists, Redeemer Counselors will refer clients to psychiatrists, as appropriate, for medication management.

  • Gospel-centered

We believe Scripture is God’s inspired written revelation to humanity and it is central to understanding who we are, what our problem is, and what will fix us.

  • Integrative

We believe in common grace that reveals truth and wisdom through psychology, which gives nuance to our understanding and application of Scripture.

  • Whole-person

We believe that people are made in God’s image, living in a physical body.  Therefore, to restore health, we need to consider the dimensions of both the body and the soul.

  • Contextualized

While all of our counselors are Christians, we counsel both Christians and non-Christians, contextualizing therapy for each person.
